QDAP
is a nonlinear dam analysis member of the WebDams project. As
such it may use the input data generated by the GEDIT program
or prepared manually. This programs computes earthquake response
of arch dams including opening and closing of the contraction
joints and cracking of the lift lines and the dam-foundation
interface. QDAP is an enhanced version of the original ADAP-88
develoepd at UC Berkeley, which included opening and closing
of the contraction joints but not cracking of the lift lines
and dam-foundation interface. The contraction joints, lift lines,
and the dam-foundation interface are modeled using nonlinear
joint elements that allow partial opening/cracking and closing
in the normal direction.
In
automatic mesh generation mode, the mesh generation capabilities
of GDAP may be used to generate a dam-foundation model, which
can then be used by GEDIT to include the necessary joint elements
for the QDAP nonlinear analysis.
