WebDams
is a collection of web-based dam analysis programs offered by
QUEST Structures.
The
WebDams project was established to facilitate and accelerate
current dam analysis procedures and make them available to national
and international users through the Internet. WebDams includes
several independent dam analysis programs with input sharing
capability among the programs. The input data generated for
one program is easily translated for any other program using
a simple "Save As" option. This way a dam can easily
be analyzed by more than one program for verification purposes
or taking advantage of different analysis capabilities offered
by other programs. For example the use of GDAP
may suffice for analysis of most dams, but EACD-3D
may also be used to investigate the effects of water compressibility
and reservoir boundary absorption on the dynamic response of
large dams. Furthermore, if linear analyses using GDAP and EACD-3D
result in high tensile stresses, it may be necessary to use
QDAP to account for the contraction
joint opening and cracking that may occur at the lift lines
and at the dam-foundation interface. With WebDams a dam-water-foundation
model generated by the GDAP modeling module is painlessly converted
to a finite-element model for EACD-3D or QDAP.
A typical analysis session is performed in four steps:
